Meet Dr. Robert Fox, Our Vision Therapists and Staff

Dr. Robert S. Fox, O.D., F.C.O.V.D

Dr. Robert Fox has been in practice in the Capital Region Area since 1986. He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Fox has also completed a residency in Rehabilitative Optometry at the Northport VA Medical Center on Long Island.

Dr. Fox is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD). As a Fellow, he has passed a series of rigorous examinations to be board certified in Vision Therapy and Vision Development. Dr. Fox is a charter member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabiliation Association (NORA). Dr. Fox is also a Fellow of the College of Syntonic Optometry (FCSO) and is a member of the New York State Optometric Association. He is on staff at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady and volunteers his time with VOSH vision missions.  Dr. Fox is originally from Long Island and now lives in Schenectady with his wife, Randy. Dr. Fox and his wife have two grown daughters who live in the Capital Region as well. In addition to all his work to stay active in the numerous Optometric organizations, he is also a Rotarian and a licensed HAM radio operator. Dr. Fox also enjoys playing hockey, camping, and is an avid movie buff.

 

 Emma Hebert, Chief Therapist – COVT

Emma has been working at Fox Vision since fall of 2011, and became Chief Therapist in 2014. Emma graduated from SUNY Oswego with a bachelor’s in Sociology and World History (’11). She is the first therapist from our office to pursue her certification from COVD. In her free time, Emma enjoys attending car shows, watching hockey, cooking, swimming, and visiting New York City. She also loves spending time with her family and pets. Emma’s responsibilities at the office, beyond providing therapy, include scheduling therapy appointments, training staff, and coordinating out-of-office learning opportunities for therapists.

 Kaitlyn Dittmar, Certified Vision Therapist – COVT

Kaitlyn joined the staff of Fox Vision in May of 2014. Originally from Western NY, she is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta (’11) with a bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education and Literacy. Her previous experiences include work in the fields of elementary education and childcare. Having seen how often children can struggle with classroom learning, Kaitlyn loves helping patients figure out how to work through challenges and reach their full potential through Vision Therapy. When not at Fox vision, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband, playing tabletop games, and volunteering in her church community.

Elizabeth has been working at Fox Vision since June of 2015. She has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with minors in Psychology and Social Work from Elizabethtown College in PA (’11). In May of 2015, Elizabeth completed school for her Occupational Therapy Assistant certification after completing clinical work at Wildwood School and Boston Medical Center. Elizabeth has worked with children for many years and enjoys helping them overcome obstacles to enrich their lives. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family, babysitting her niece, watching hockey, boating, skiing, reading, traveling, volunteering, and advocating for Lyme Disease awareness.

 

Carrie Thompson, Vision Therapist, OVT, OTA

Carrie joined our team in July 2016.  Carrie has an associate’s degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) and a bachelor’s of science in Psychology from the University of West Georgia. She is currently enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Master’s Degree Program at the New England Technical Institute in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Carrie has worked with children for more than 20 years. She has taught Preschool and ran many afterschool programs.  Carrie has a passion for helping children achieve the best possible opportunities for success and happiness.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking yoga classes, and playing her ukulele.

 Jennifer Chapman, Vision Therapy Administrator

Jennifer has been working at Fox Vision since July 2012. Jennifer lives in Schenectady with her husband, Gerry and 2 dogs. They have two children, Mackenzie and Connor, who have completed a Program of Care at Fox Vision. Since Jennifer had learned about the benefits of Vision Therapy she has passed on her passion to her daughter who works as a Vision Therapist in Nashville, TN. Prior to her employment at Fox Vision she was employed at Schonowe Pre-school where she was closely involved with children on the Autisim Spectrum and/or Special Needs. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys reading, crafting, spending time with her family and making music together.

Karen Boyark, Patient Care Coordinator

Karen has been working at Fox Vision since April of 2013. She lives in Rotterdam with her husband, Stan and their 2 pets. Karen has a background of Office Management, and previously worked in a Dentist office. Since working at Fox Vision she has seen how much Vision Therapy can change the direction of a person’s life and really enjoys seeing the growth and changes. In her free time, Karen loves to shop, knit, sew, travel and visit her family in Arizona.

 Jewelie Koutelis, Marketing Coordinator

Jewelie moved to the Albany area shortly after graduating from college.  Jewelie graduated with a degree in Humanities and Social Sciences and with a degree in Social Work – Child and Family Services.  After graduating,  she began her career working for an Assisted Living Facility.  As the Assistant Community Director, she oversaw the Sales and Marketing Department and was the recipient of two Gold Leaf Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. In Jewelie’s free time, she enjoys dancing, running in races, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
