Free Sports Vision Screening

April 28, 2018

Poor visual skills can greatly impact sports performance. Visual acuity (seeing 20/20) is only one of the necessary 17 visual skills needed for peak athletic performance. Sports vision training works on enhancing an athletes visual abilities to take their game to the next level. It’s important have a visual assessment as research shows that 80% of what we learn comes from the visual system.  If you’re interested in attending, please call the office to schedule an appointment (518) 374-8001.  All appointments are on a first come first serve basis.

The visual skills necessary for peak athletic performance in many sports are:

  • Dynamic Visual Acuity: Seeing moving objects clearly
  • Eye Tracking: the ability to “keep your eye on the ball”
  • Eye Focusing: the ability to change focus from one object to another quickly and clearly
  • Peripheral Awareness: seeing out of the corner of your eye
  • Depth Perception: the ability to quickly and accurately judge the distance and speed of objects
  • Eye-Hand or Eye-Body Coordination: the ability to use our eyes to effectively direct the movements of our hands/body
