Teachers Learn About Hidden Vision Problems!

| August 22, 2017

As we start to get ready for the new school year, I hope you will take a minute to watch the video at the start of this blog.

We do a great job of buying shoes and school supplies, but we tend to ignore the need for comprehensive vision examinations. In this video my friend, Dr. Chris Schell of Canada, runs an interesting experiment on four school teachers. Using lenses and prisms, he duplicates the challenges school children have with vision problems in the classroom setting. Interestingly, the teachers that still had 20/20 eyesight had the most challenges when it came to reading and paying attention.

Remember that your children don’t speak up because they think you see the same way that they do. Please feel free to share this blog and video with your friends. We need to spread the word that 20/20 is not enough for school success. Only 14% of students have had full eye examinations. Let’s change that number and make full eye examinations a part of the back-to-school routine.
